hang on man, did you even hear Layne attempt to do his other songs in his last days (Live) like “man in the box” ? he sucked!!. Layne we all know has a Dark Angelic voice and we all know that he had his prime days and will always be remembered as the greatest singers of all times, but Layne had his off days too. I think for Duvall, hes just warming up for his prime singing days ahead. He’ll be ok

im sorry and i know this guy tries but all i can say is watch layne doing this live and then try and watch this….do you see my point layne has way more range and can do this song better so maybe william might need to stay away from this song. at least hes trying tho ill give him that.

i dont necessarily …
i dont necessarily enjoy the new singer’s voice, but they DID pick him, which i feel is more respectable than them doing some ‘american idol’ show trying to find a guy with the exact same voice as layne. i feel picking a guy that doesnt sound the exact same was a better choice then finding some clone of layne. they picked him for his musician skills, not how close to layne he sounded.

nobody can replace layne, nobody. if layne wanted to have gotten better from his addiction he would’ve n would still be here, instead he delved into the addiction to the point where he couldn’t be helped anymore. Duvall is good, not great but what do u expect to replace him some other “known” douche?

wow it’s really …
wow it’s really annoying to hear “fans” like this! Jerry picked this guy because he does a good job singing these songs and doing that dual vocalist harmony thats not a clone of Layne but still in a similar vein.
also not to burst bubbles but Layne by the end of AiC’s original run was a terrible vocalist who had no power in his voice! this guy is way better than Layne in his later years… just listen to Died and Get Born Again or his cover of Another Brick in the Wall

i think he really tries to be as good as layne was, he made a very good show, but its not enough. it can’t be enough, because he is just a singer and layne is (was) the master. In any other band i would like DuVall, but in this case i just wish layne back, its laynes song, and it shouldnt be sang by one who is just a singer…

Yes, I am bias, but this is not a great choice for him to sing LAYNE’S songs. Mostly because Layne wrote them with so much meaning and feeling behind them, and his voice with all it’s grit completed them.
