Mastodon (live) – Megalodon – SCION ROCK FEST 2009

Posted on January 19th, 2010 by admin

Mastodon performing “Megalodon” live on February 28, 2009 at the Scion Rock Fest at The Masquerade (Music Park), Atlanta, Georgia.

Sponsored by Scion and Vice, and set at the metalest venue in Atlanta (The Masquerade) on the metalest day of the metalest month of the year (Feb. 28, obviously), the Scion Rock Fest will bring together metal heavyweights from as far away as Japan and Norway. The festival will feature a who’s who line-up that includes Neurosis, Boris, 1349, Cryptopsy, Torche, Baroness, Wolves in the Throne Room, Krallice, Harvey Milk, the hometown heroes of Mastodon, and many more. Dear Sharon Osbourne, if you want Ozzfest to be successful again, start putting together line-ups like this one. Oh, and the best part about the festival? It’s absolutely, positively, 100% free.

lyrics:
Myth or legend
Nymph tale washed ashore
Near the kraken sleepeth stirs coral and bone
Infinite city
No sexy sneer
Hideous creation
Human and animal
Banter songs of rudeness to be adhered
Not on rocks that glisten
Harps to listen
Comb hair
Tear right to pieces
Left to recess a watery grave
Sensing the blood of prey
Swimming in fear for life
Rolling over
Falling into jaws
Teeth that chatter
It distracts them all
The Fiji mermaid
She will let it know
Time is coming to feed and knaw

It was funny… 2 days before the show my friend showed us where his band practices, the thunderbox in atlanta, and while we were there Mastodon walked by, nodded, and we then heard them practice a few songs. Seeing/ hearing a band practice in their native space is really a neat experience. Scion fest was a blast.
