You could say the same thing about 90% of the most popular and successful metal and rock guitarists, and they’re a lot older than this.

dude… chill. You …
dude… chill. You know you could do both right? haha I just used my time at the rock school as a learning experience- I’ve had several bands that have done well on our own without any dependance on any SOR. You’re right, some kids use it as a crutch for getting gigs. Some of them might not have the resources to be able to get gigs on their own. Most of these guys are doing it for fun, and because they love music.

I think Kids who …
I think Kids who really ROCK can get their OWN gigs. they shouldnt have adults going and doing all the WORK FOR THEM. they pay to play at places like the trocadero. Kids who work hard to be in GOOD BANDS THAT THEY THEMSELVES CREATE get to play at the trocadero and big venues. SCHOOL OF ROCK = PAY TO PLAY.The kids get their parents to cough up money for them to play a bunch of cover tunes, and they pay to get a CROWD. Kids like Myself work very hard to get their own crowd and thats why SOR sucks.

Well, no one should …
Well, no one should ever say kids are incapable of playing music of any kind. The thing is, I doubt you’ve been to a Ween/Duo show. They’re two of the most interesting modern bands today. Having them in the same place at a festival is great. I knew there were going to be kid bands, so I came just as The Duo started to play. Unfortunately, the ‘all-star’ band completely killed the flow, and the kids in the crowd made it impossible to smoke weed.

Lucky man is a …
Lucky man is a pretty generic prog song, bad lyrics and a boring pattern until it gets to the keys solo. Regardless,The kiddies DESTROYED the momentum of Keneally > Duo > Ween. To have just those three at a 18+ venue is a dream for some prog/experimental bands. You clearly have no clue about these bands and you’re probably just the father of a ‘School of Rocker’. Maybe more time in your SUV listening to James Taylor cassette tapes will make you realize rock can never be taught in a school.

Bullshit. kids can …
Bullshit. kids can play great music. Look at Greg Lake. He wrote “Lucky Man” when he was 12 years old. Are you saying that they should discourage kids from playing rock music? Then there would be ABSOLUTELY no hope for any good music in the future.

Who’s genius …
Who’s genius idea was it to have little kids running around a festy with otherwise awesome bands? They can’t handle Ween, that’s for sure. I’d really like to see Deaner and Gener play that parking lot area again withOUT the prepubescent ‘rockers’.
